The colored headed goose resembles a swan in appearance, pure white and noble, and its habits resemble those of a wild goose flying freely. The color headed goose originated from the winter fishing customs of the Liao Dynasty emperors. Legend has it that after the emperors chiseled ice to catch fish, they would hold a "color headed banquet" to share the "head fish" and "head goose" and pray for national prosperity and people's peace. Its name implies "seeing the colorful head flying" and symbolizes good luck.
